Ian Tsung-yen Chen, an assistant professor at National Sun Yat-sen University inKaohsiung, said the announcement would impact "industries and manufacturers thatare highly dependent on the Chinese market and cannot find other alternative exportmarkets in the short term."
In the long run, Chen said, Taiwanese manufacturers must contend with the effects ofcross-strait politics on economic activity, seek to de-risk from China and diversify theirbusinesses.
